Understanding your voter registration card

Your voter registration card contains useful information:

Location of your County Precinct

Location of your Municipal Precinct (if you live in city)

The District number for your Member of:

  • US Congress
  • State Senator & State Representative
  • County Commissioner & County School Board
  • City Commissioner (if you live in city)

Note: You do not need to show this card to vote!

 Where to vote:

Your voter precinct, or the location of your polling place, is determined by your home address. You must be registered to vote at your home address, where you reside, as your address determines which candidates appear on your precinct ballot.

Your voter precinct will be open 7am-7pm on Election Day.

Prior to all elections, you will receive a sample ballot and the location of your precinct from your county Supervisor of Elections.

Your precinct location is also listed on your voter registration card; however, as locations sometimes change, look for notice of precinct location changes sent to you by your county Supervisor of Elections.

Early Voting sites can be found near you where you can vote in the two weeks prior to the primary and general election.  Many locations have weekend and night hours.  This allows you to vote early and avoid lines or unexpected troubles on election day.

Absentee Ballot – Voting by Mail (& "early voting")

Any eligible voter can request an absentee ballot by calling your county Supervisor of Elections.

Be sure to affix the appropriate postage needed to mail your ballot.

Be sure to sign your name on the back of the ballot.

You must have a witness also sign and provide their address.

Mail the ballot so that Supervisor of Election will receive it prior to 7pm on Election Day, or the ballot will not count. You can also hand deliver the ballot early to Supervisor of Elections or turn the ballot in at your precinct location on Election Day.

To vote early, or "absentee in person" in advance of the election, go to your county Supervisor of Elections office once ballots are available. (You should call that office for early voting dates and office hours.)
